National Economic Development Conference & Awards

How do we put people’s wellbeing at the heart of economic development? This is one of the panel sessions taking place at this year’s annual Economic Development New Zealand conference to be held in the Bay of Islands from 18-19 October. International and national perspectives on defining, achieving and measuring inclusive growth will be heard with regional presentations from Taranaki, Southland, Manawatu-Whanganui,  the Mackenzie Basin, Northland and Gore.

To be opened by the Prime Minister, the two day conference also features the MBIE (Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment) Awards, recognising best practice in economic development throughout New Zealand. The Award categories are:

·         Integrated, strategic planning

·         Promotion of Innovation

·         Collaboration with Business, Iwi, Community

·         Inward investment attraction

·         Sustainable Development

·         Primary research that contributes to best practice
