Memory Box Project

Memory Box Project

Project Description and Objectives: The mission for Memory Box is to utilize technology to democratize history.

As an MVP, we are creating the Memory Box ‘Gift of a Lifetime’ – a box of equipment (microphone, tripod, guide) and access to a platform giving you professional advice on how to record and a place to store and share archivable quality audio visual family stories.

We are exploring the opportunity of a TV documentary to promote the platform and activate the nation to begin recording their own family’s history.

Why this project is of benefit to Kāpiti?: There is potential to run a pilot in Kapiti – where there is a significant ageing (and youth) population. Imagine if we could record an archivable snapshot of Kapiti history!

Key Stakeholders to be consulted: History experts, audio visual experts, Iwi, government, local government, journalists, hobby historians, families.

Skill Gaps: UX, development*, graphic design, av expertise.

*two of our team have dev skills however their availability is limited.

Funding Gap:

Initial funding of $30K required to develop prototype web platform and app. Other Resources Required: Access to studios or booths across NZ to record footage for launch, example videos, promo videos and/or masterclass tutorials.

Could we use radio stations? Studios in universities? Potential Funders: TVNZ
