Marco Zeeman

Consultant and entrepreneur Marco Zeeman has a diverse portfolio of skills and knowledge. From his marine education and conservation interest to his involvement in the sculptural arts world, owning and operating an Apple Computer dealership in the 90's, to construction, facilities management, community engagement, project and event management.

He was a founder and sponsor of the hugely successful international Tareitanga Sculpture Symposium, held five times on Frank Kitts Park over 10 years. This event produced over 400 sculptures, engaged with 100’s of 1000’s of spectators and brought together sculptors from around the world.

Marco is well-known for his role as instigator and Chair of the SinkF69 Trust, which successfully scuttled the former navy frigate “HMNZS Wellington” off Wellington’s South Coast in 2005, creating an artificial diving reef.

Marco, who was named “Wellingtonian of the Year 2005” for his work on that project, brings extensive end-to-end experience of working with councils, government, funders, corporate and business partners. He is adept at engaging and harnessing talent to support major community projects.

Marco has also been working extensively promoting the Wellington Sculptural Highway with NZTA, the Wellington Gateway Partnership and the regions councils on adding sculptural form along the the new highways from Linden to Otaki. The sculptural walls at Linden under construction now are a direct result of Marco's lobbying.

He is also the Chairman of the Whale Song Charitable Trust, which is supporting local Kapiti artist Mike Fullers vision of Whale Song, comprising a family of seven humpback whales cast in bronzed aluminium. A site for Whale Song has been acquired next to the Wharemauku Stream and Expressway bridge and fundraising is underway.
